Jaipur: The Airport Station of Jaipur Metro Line 2 will have direct access to all three terminals of Jaipur Airport through tunnels and shuttle services. The decision to construct the tunnels followed a recent meeting between Jaipur Metro Railway Corporation (JMRC) and airport officials.Speaking to TOI, a senior Metro official said that at present the city airport has two terminal buildings. By the time Metro Line 2 gets operational, the city airport will have a third terminal next to the present Terminal-2 on Sanganer side.“It has been decided to construct three separate underground tunnels for passengers to move to and from these terminals and the Metro station. JMRC will construct these terminals and will install walkalators and elevators to facilitate the passengers moving with heavy baggage. The airport officials are also likely to provide shuttle services from the terminals and the station,” stated a senior JMRC official.Like the airport line of the Delhi Metro, the Airport Metro Station of Jaipur would have two entry/exit gates. One towards the terminals and the second for passengers coming from or going to the adjacent neighbourhood.Metro officials said the 43-km long Metro Line 2 from Prahladpura in Sitapura to Todi Mod in Vidhyadhar Nagar will be constructed in seven packages, of which six will be elevated corridors and the seventh would be an underground corridor connecting Pinjrapole Gaushala and B2 Bypass, including the airport.“The idea behind the construction in seven different packages is to ensure that seven different firms are involved in the construction process, so that the project is not being delayed. However, we are going to construct the seven packages almost simultaneously,” stated another JMRC official.Metro officials have opened the tender for the first package from Prahladpura to Pinjrapole Gaushala in Dec.
