Jhunjhunu: A woman constable in Churu district has filed a case alleging she was gang-raped and sexually exploited by multiple policemen, including the then station house officer (SHO), in 2017. Based on her complaint given to the district SP, an FIR was registered Wednesday and a probe initiated. In the complaint, the constable, who has been under suspension for the past two months on charges of negligence in duty, alleged that she was raped after being intoxicated inside a police station and later at a hotel in 2017. She named four policemen in the FIR, accusing them of threatening, intimidating and sexually exploiting her over a prolonged period. According to the FIR, the constable said she faced sustained mental and physical harassment. She approached Churu Superintendent of Police Jai Yadav around two weeks ago with a written complaint. Following the SP’s directions, a senior officer conducted an internal inquiry, and the case was registered after the inquiry findings. The constable’s medical examination was conducted Wednesday. The allegations include an encounter with a man named Vicky, who allegedly misrepresented himself as an employee of the electricity department in Bikaner. The constable alleged she was called by a colleague on a day she was not on duty and told she had been assigned work. She said that when she reached the location in the morning, Vicky and another constable took her to a hotel, where she was allegedly intoxicated and raped. TOI tried to get statements from senior police officers Thursday, but phone calls to them went unanswered, while the investigating officer said the matter was being probed based on the complaint and the internal inquiry findings.
