Ajmer: A trader was shot and injured in broad daylight in Kekri town of Ajmer district Wednesday after a business dispute escalated into violence. The victim sustained a bullet injury to the abdomen and was taken to the govt hospital, where his condition is stated to be stable. Police detained four persons, including the main accused, and seized their vehicle.Police said the incident occurred at Ajmeri Gate market, where Mahendra Sahu runs a shop. Another trader, Ajay Sahu, allegedly had a monetary dispute with him. On Wednesday afternoon, Ajay went to Mahendra’s shop, leading to a heated argument between the two.During the argument, Ajay allegedly took out a firearm and opened fire, hitting Mahendra in the stomach. The gunshot caused panic in the busy market area, and shopkeepers rushed to the spot before shifting the injured man to the govt hospital.Police reached the scene soon after and detained Ajay Sahu. Three others who were with him at the time were also detained. A forensic science laboratory team recovered a bullet casing from the spot, and CCTV footage from nearby cameras is being examined.Additional SP Rajesh Kumar said preliminary findings indicate the shooting followed a business dispute. Further investigation is underway.
