Jaisalmer: The crime investigation department (CID) of Rajasthan police detained two foreign nationals, a Slovakian man and a Spanish woman, who had come to attend a religious gathering late Monday evening in Rawla Mandi of Sriganganagar district, close to the Indo-Pak border.Police said the department was tipped off about the presence of two foreigners at a ‘nagar kirtan’, a religious event, following which they were picked up and detained at the Rawla police station.Superintendent of police Amrita Duhan said the two were being questioned to determine why they had ventured so close to the international border without necessary paperwork. Rawla Mandi falls within a sensitive border zone, entry to which is forbidden for foreign nationals without prior permission.Preliminary investigations suggest the two were staying at the house of a local friend in Rawla. Police said both claimed to be interested in Sikhism and that they were attending the event because it was held to mark Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti.
