Jaipur: With Jaipur’s first-ever Army Day parade to be held on Mahal Road in Jagatpura on Jan 15, the Jaipur Commissionerate traffic wing has issued a traffic plan in coordination with the Army and district administration.Sumeet Meharda, DCP traffic of Jaipur Commissionerate, said the entire stretch between NRI Chouraha and Bombay Hospital will remain closed to all traffic, including emergency services, from 5am to 1pm.“We made alternative arrangements for residents on both sides of the stretch, those who need to travel through this stretch, and even for the participants and spectators of the event,” Meharda said.Traffic officials said all internal roads on both sides of the Pratap Nagar and Jagatpura localities will remain open for traffic. To facilitate movement of locals on both sides of the closed stretches of Mahal Road, local police has been asked to ensure that all colony gates remain open,” a senior traffic official added.Organisers said they are expecting a footfall of around 1.2 lakh and have made seating arrangements for 40,000 people.“Crowd will be allowed to witness the parade on the service lanes on both sides of the stretch. The seating arrangements were also made on both sides of the roads, somewhere at the centre of the stretch. On both sides of the seats, spectators can stand and witness the event,” said an official.The traffic wing has identified eight parking lots on the Jagatpura side (eastern side) of Mahal Road and 10 parking spots on the Pratap Nagar (western side).“Out of these 10 parking lots, two were reserved for guests and dignitaries. The rest can be used by all.
