Jaipur: The state govt spent Rs 142.62 crore and extended financial assistance to 34,704 girls under the Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana over the past two years — a figure officials say is higher than the assistance provided in the first two years of the previous govt.According to data released by the CMO Friday, the application system is fully online and integrated with the Jan Aadhaar portal. Key details such as residence, caste, BPL status, income, marriage registration, and bank information are now auto-verified, significantly reducing paperwork, delays, and human intervention.The govt also extended the application window from 6 months to 1 year after marriage, to ensure that eligible families are not deprived of benefits due to unforeseen circumstances or procedural delays.A senior official said the move was made keeping ground realities in mind. “The application process sometimes takes time. In many cases, marriages are fixed and solemnised quickly, leaving families little time to complete formalities. Extending the window ensures that genuine beneficiaries still receive assistance,” the official said.The govt indicated that additional relaxations and process simplifications are likely to be announced in the 2026–27 Budget to further expand access to the scheme.Under the Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana, the govt provides Rs 31,000 for the marriage of girls belonging to SC/ST and minority BPL families. For other BPL families, Antyodaya families, Aastha card holders, widows, persons with disabilities, beneficiaries under the Palanhar Yojana, and women sportspersons, financial assistance of Rs 21,000 is given.
