Jaipur: State Election Commission (SEC) Wednesday announced that the draft electoral roll for upcoming panchayati raj elections will be issued on Jan 29, and the final electoral roll will be published Feb 25. After that, dates for panchayat polls in the state will be announced. SEC also issued guidelines for appointing enumerators to prepare electoral rolls for the elections.
The commission directed that only one enumerator be appointed for each gram panchayat polling booth, with an allocation of about 1,100 voters per enumerator. The guidelines also require officials to keep a reserve list of 10% additional eligible personnel for enumerator duties. The guidelines say that, as far as possible, BLOs (booth level officers) should be appointed as enumerators. “Additionally, the staff posted in the gram panchayat concerned should be appointed as the enumerator for the same ward so that they have complete knowledge of the boundaries and voters of their ward,” the SEC’s order says. The order mandated that the appointed enumerator should not be involved with any political party or political activities. “The work of appointment of enumerators should be completed within 3 working days from the date of issue of this order,” it further said.
