Jaipur: Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma Monday said India’s development was possible only through women’s empowerment. He was addressing a women’s empowerment conference at Dudhalia in Jhalawar, organised as part of celebrations marking two years of the BJP govt in the state.Sharma said his govt was firmly committed to the conservation of the Aravallis and no compromise would be made on their protection. He said Rajasthan’s legacy of women leaders—from Rani Padmini to Rani Karnavati and Hadi Rani—continues to inspire the state’s progress. Announcing a series of initiatives, Sharma said 100 handpumps, 50 tubewells, and 25 km of pipelines would be installed to improve drinking water supply in urban and rural areas of Baran and Jhalawar. He said a DPR would be prepared for a dam on the Chhoti Kalisindh river in Dag-Chaumahla region, and a centre of excellence for indigenous cattle breeds will be set up in Dag.
