Jaipur: Deputy chief minister and minister for tourism, Diya Kumari, Thursday invited women, girls and art lovers to participate and attend the Ghoomar festival, calling the dance the rhythm of Rajasthan’s soul.Unveiling the poster of the festival 2025, to be held on Nov 19 in all seven divisional headquarters – Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Ajmer, Udaipur, Kota, and Bharatpur – she said Ghoomar reflects the state’s glorious cultural heritage and exhibits the spirit of womanhood expressed through grace and joy.Each location will host performances and workshops, and the state-level celebration will take place at the Vidyadhar Nagar Stadium in Jaipur from 3pm to 6.30pm. Artists, under the direction of Jyoti Tomar of the Gangaur Ghoomar Dance Academy, will perform traditional Ghoomar on live folk music, she said.A special musical track has been composed for synchronised performances across all the seven cities. Free six-day training workshops are currently being held in each divisional city, including at Jawahar Kala Kendra in Jaipur, where expert dance gurus are training participants.The festival is open to girls above 12 years of age and women of all ages, including students, homemakers, working professionals, and cultural enthusiasts.Outstanding groups at the state-level event will be awarded for best group dance, costume, jewellery, synchronisation, and choreography, according to the organisers.
