Jaipur/Kota: In a strategic move ahead of the bypoll, former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, PCC Chief Govind Singh Dotasra, and Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully will join forces for a roadshow in support of Congress’ candidate Pramod Jain Bhaya in the Anta assembly constituency on Sunday. This marks the final day of campaigning for the bypoll. This event follows a significant roadshow by the BJP, featuring Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and former CM Vasundhara Raje, held on Thursday. The Congress party’s roadshow, which will begin at 10 am on Sunday, will start from Baran’s Batawadi village and end at Mangrol town.In a triangular contest, Bhaya will face BJP’s Morpal Suman and independent candidate Naresh Meena in the Anta bypoll scheduled to be held on November 11. Gehlot’s roadshow on Sunday would also send a positive message to the Anta’s Mali community, with both him and the BJP candidate Suman belonging to the same community. This is the Congress party’s second attempt at putting up a show of unity ahead of the Anta bypoll, the first being the party’s public rally on the day of Bhaya’s nomination filing. This rally was attended by Gehlot, AICC’s Rajasthan in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, former Deputy CM Sachin Pilot, Dotasra, Jully, and other senior functionaries of the party.Being reduced to 66 seats in the Rajasthan assembly, the Congress party will spare no effort to win the Anta bypoll following the disqualification of the BJP’s MLA and Raje loyalist Kanwarlal Meena from the seat. The Congress party, apart from highlighting the failures of the Bhajan Lal govt, has repeatedly focused on the issue of Meena’s disqualification as an MLA due to his conviction in a 20-year-old criminal case during the election campaign. Gehlot, in his public rallies, also accused the BJP govt of discontinuing all the welfare schemes started by the previous Congress govt.Meanwhile, PCC chief Govind Singh Dotasra pulled up a police officer when a group of police personnel arrived at a private meeting of Congress functionaries in Anta. Dotasra got angry and said, “Are we distributing money here? You are not letting us contest elections.” He also asked them to raid BJP functionaries who, he claimed, were distributing money.
