Jaipur: The state govt will hold a mega Parents’ Anganwadi Meeting (PAM) along with a Parent-Teachers’ Meeting (PTM) in govt schools on Oct 31 to boost parental participation in children’s learning and overall development. Officials said parents at anganwadi centres will also be briefed on the transition from early childhood care to formal schooling, ensuring all eligible children are enrolled.To increase attendance, the Women and Child Development Department has issued invitation letters urging parents to join hands for their children’s growth. “We must work together to prepare children for school,” the message stated. Education department officials said organising PAM and PTM together will help strengthen communication between teachers and parents and provide updates on students’ academic progress, attendance and behaviour. At the mega PTM, to encourage parents to attend as part of mid-day meal, students and parents will be provided with a special diet according to the regional environment.“Through this initiative, suggestions from parents will be gathered to further strengthen the quality of teaching at the school level,” said an official from the education department.At the meeting, teachers in govt schools will share information about students’ learning outcomes, exam results, and upcoming teaching plans. Meanwhile, at anganwadi centres, anganwadi workers will inform parents about the new books developed by the department for early childhood care and education (ECCE) and how the topics mentioned in these books can be discussed with children at home to aid learning.Last week, the union govt praised the state govt’s initiative of starting anganwadi centres within the school campus, which led to an increase in primary class enrolment from 98,000 last year to 1,00,000 this year. At anganwadi centres, the ECCE programme focuses on making learning playful for children aged 3-6, to help their linguistic and cognitive development.Officials added that this year, the theme of the mega PTM is ‘Unity in Diversity.’ Under this theme, schools will host activities such as cultural presentations, debates, essay writing, painting, poster-slogan competitions, and achievement exhibitions. Students will also be shown short films focusing on national unity and social harmony.
