Jaipur: Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, while addressing the Pravasi Rajasthani meet in Surat Wednesday, said that expatriate Rajasthanis should contribute to the development of Rajasthan.He called upon them to work together towards making Rajasthan the world’s ‘Gems and Jewellery Hub’ and invited them to participate in the Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas to be held in Jaipur on Dec 10 this year. Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas is an initiative of the Rajasthan govt aimed at strengthening engagement with its global diaspora community. He appealed to expatriate Rajasthanis to become partners in the investment opportunities available in Rajasthan and contribute to building a developed Rajasthan. Sharma said that the relationship between Gujarat and Rajasthan is not limited to geographical proximity alone, but there are immense possibilities of cultural and social cooperation along with economic cooperation between the two states in areas like gems and jewellery, pharma, textile industry, and the proposed petrochemical complex in the state. The CM said Surat and Rajasthan were connected by a shared spirit of entrepreneurship, creativity, and perseverance. “While Surat is world-famous for diamond cutting and synthetic textiles, Rajasthan is known for coloured stones, kundan, meenakari, textiles, and gems. We should work together towards making Rajasthan the world’s ‘Gems and Jewellery Hub’,” said Sharma. The CM said the state govt is going to start a petrochemical refinery in the state in Dec. Along with this, his govt will provide all possible support to investors in establishing global capability centres and data centres. He said that the state govt has created an institutional framework to strengthen ties with expatriate Rajasthanis. Currently, 26 chapters of Rajasthan Foundation are active in the country and abroad. “These chapters are promoting meaningful dialogue, cooperation, and cultural exchange with the expatriate Rajasthani community,” he added.
