Jaipur: The regional transport office (RTO) in Jaipur will start a Safe Travel campaign from Tuesday to ensure strict checking of safety measures in vehicles ferrying school children in the city.Officials said bus operators were given one month’s time to install GPS trackers, CCTVs, speed governors, and panic buttons inside buses, along with police verification of drivers and conductors.Rajendra Singh, Regional Transport Officer Jaipur (I), said, due to the month-long awareness drive, around 2,000 buses in the city complied with the norms and installed the devices. From Tuesday, inspections would be conducted on city roads, and vehicles without the devices would be seized.“In Jaipur, around 2,500 vehicles are used for ferrying school children, most of which are buses. With regular awareness drives, most buses have installed all the required devices. Buses that have not complied with the guidelines will be seized. Our aim is to ensure that all school vehicles comply with safety measures, and regular inspections will be conducted to check that all the devices are functional,” said Singh.
