Bhilwara: A tragic incident in Bagjana village under Kareda police station Wednesday evening claimed the lives of a woman, her son, and nephew when all three drowned in a pond while watering animals.According to Kareda police station in-charge Puranmal Meena, 13-year-old Sunil Nath slipped into deep water at the Dharm pond. Seeing him struggle, his 12-year-old cousin Praveen Nath and 40-year-old aunt Laxmi Devi rushed in to save him. However, all three drowned in the strong currents while trying to save each other. Shepherds nearby raised an alarm, drawing villagers to the spot. The bodies were pulled out and rushed to Kareda hospital, where doctors declared them dead. Villagers alleged that no doctor was present when they reached the hospital and accused the medical staff of negligence for arriving late despite repeated calls. Their anger was echoed by Kareda panchayat samiti deputy head Sukhalal Gurjar, who demanded accountability. The tragedy plunged Bagjana village into grief as relatives mourned the loss of three members from one family. Authorities later announced compensation of Rs 4 lakh each from the State Disaster Relief Fund to the victims’ families. Police have registered the matter and said further inquiry is underway.
