Jaipur: Over 5.24 lakh candidates are set to take part in the Rajasthan police constable recruitment exam this Saturday and Sunday. The exam aims to fill 10,000 vacancies in various positions, including constables and drivers, across the state.This year, the number of applicants has notably decreased compared to previous years due to the introduction of clearing the Common Eligibility Test (CET) as a mandatory requirement before taking the constable exam. In contrast, the 2021 recruitment exam attracted 19 lakh applicants for 4,588 posts, although it was marred by controversy due to a paper leak, necessitating a re-examination.ADG (Recruitment Board) Bipin Kumar Pandey and ADG (SOG) VK Singh, held a press conference here Friday, providing details about the upcoming examination. On Saturday, the examination will take place from 3pm to 5pm, with 105,846 candidates expected at 280 centres across nine cities. The next day, the exam will be held in two shifts: the first from 10am to 12pm for 209,987 candidates at 582 centres in 21 cities, and the second from 3pm to 5pm for 208,907 candidates at 580 centres in the same number of cities. The recruitment includes 1,500 posts for newly established RAC women’s battalions and 1,469 positions for Police Telecommunications (Constable IT), with recruits receiving specialized IT training. The state govt has also implemented a 33% reservation for women, designating 3,303 posts specifically for female candidates. Addressing the security concerns, Singh outlined that multi-layered packaging of question papers will prevent tampering. The exam will be conducted offline, with candidates using OMR sheets. To ensure security at examination centres, jammers have been installed to disable electronic devices, negating the need for internet shutdowns. Additionally, temporary treasury rooms will safeguard question papers under CCTV surveillance, with live feeds monitored by the Rajasthan police’s control room. Authorities have cautioned candidates and parents against falling prey to gangs offering leaked question papers. For the smooth travel of aspirants on Saturday and Sunday, north western railways (NWR) would be running nine pair of ‘exam special’ trains from various parts of Rajasthan. “These trains are aimed to connect various districts of Rajasthan to each other for the travel of aspirants,” said Captain Shashi Kiran, chief public relations officer, NWR.
