Alwar/Jaisalmer: Rajasthan Bayana MLA Ritu Banawat is among the group of Indians stranded on the China-Nepal as violence rages in Nepal.Banawat, accompanied by her husband Rishi Bansal, was part of a 98-member group headed to Kailash Mansarovar between Sept 3 and 11, when they got stuck at Purang in the final stages of their return journey. She was scheduled to enter Nepal and head to Lucknow via Nepalgunj. However, the group was stopped in Purang village on the China border on account of the brewing unrest in Nepal. Banawat and the group are currently in China, where authorities have advised them to remain until the situation stabilises in Nepal. Following intervention from Indian and Rajasthan govts, the Nepal Embassy and foreign ministry have contacted the legislator and Nepal Embassy spoke with her on Wednesday.Banawat also released a video Wednesday in which she said she was contacted by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, assuring her of her safe repatriation to India. She also said that if the situation normalises by Thursday, the group is likely to proceed to India via Kathmandu.Another Barmer businessman, Pankaj Chitara, also returning from the Kailash Mansarovar yatra with a group of 50 is also among the Indians waiting to return to safety in India. Chaitra left for Kailash Mansarovar on Aug 22 and reached Mansarovar on Aug 24 and then travelled through China and Tibet to arrive in Nepal on Sept 8, but has been stranded there, since. Chaitra said the group reached Nepal airport and completed the immigration process after which their flight was cancelled. Shortly after, the group was shifted to a hotel in Kathmandu’s Sundhara area from where they are awaiting a safe return.
