Alwar: A 45-year-old man in Bharatpur district shot himself in the temple after opening fire at a 42-year-old woman neighbour who had spurned his attempts at a relationship.Police said Ram Babu, who lived on rent in Mathura Gate area, shot at the woman around 10am Wednesday. At that time, the woman’s husband was not at home and she was alone. The woman was struck in the hand by the bullet and is undergoing treatment at a local hospital.The injured woman stated that Ram Babu had been harassing her for four years, and she had filed multiple complaints with police. Despite police taking action against him, he would return and continue to harass her, she said.Five months ago, another woman had filed a molestation complaint against Ram Babu.Ram Babu’s sister accused the woman of having an illicit relationship with her brother. She claimed that the woman kept calling Ram Babu as long as he had money, but left him when he had none left to give.The woman’s husband and brother-in-law run a mobile shop and were at work during the incident. The woman said Ram Babu entered her house by jumping over from a neighbour’s house and tried to strangle her. When she resisted, he pulled out a gun and shot at her. She ran downstairs and informed her sister-in-law, who then called her husband.The woman said her brother-in-law arrived and found Ram Babu’s body in her room, with the gun nearby. He immediately called his brother, and both of them took her to hospital. Police reached the house and sent Ram Babu’s body to mortuary. Ram Babu’s sister, Mamta, who lives in Gulal Kund area of Mathura Gate, arrived at the scene upon hearing the news.Ram Babu, originally from Sikri in Deeg district, had three children. His wife, who is from Kolkata, stays separately from him in Kolkata. His eldest son, aged 12, lived with him, while his two daughters, aged 9 and 7, lived with their mother. Bharatpur SP Digant Anand stated that after shooting the woman, Ram Babu shot himself in the temple, resulting in his immediate death.
