Bhilwara: In Lamba Harisingh village of Tonk district, the wall of a medieval-era fort collapsed Saturday morning and fell upon four classrooms of the govt senior secondary school, which also collapsed from the weight. Angry residents said that had the incident occurred during school hours, it could have led to casualties.Malpura sub-divisional officer Amit Kumar Chaudhary said the school has now been shifted to the girls’ school building, where classes will continue in two shifts. Additionally, the construction of a new school building will be expedited, he said.Officials, including SDM Chaudhary, tehsildar Pawan Matwa, CBEO Nathu Lal Kataria, ADPC Tonk Ramgopal Meghwanshi, and Malpura DSP Ashish Prajapat arrived at the site to assess the damage and speak with villagers. The wall of the 425-year-old fort, located behind the school, was 100 metres in length. It collapsed between 5:30am and 6am on Saturday. The collapsed classrooms were used by 425 students from classes 9 to 12. Students of classes 6 to 8 study in a separate building within the fort complex.
