Jaipur: Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of Rajasthan Police Thursday busted an arms smuggling racket linked to jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. AGTF arrested two alleged smugglers and seized three country-made pistols and five magazines. ADG (AGTF) Dinesh MN said the racket was uncovered after questioning a gangster accused of supplying 131 illegal weapons in the state. Dinesh said the AGTF executed the crackdown in two districts. In Sadulshahar of Sriganganagar, the team intercepted Gurmeet Singh, 40, of Kheruwala. He was carrying an illegal pistol and a magazine. Upon interrogation, Singh admitted to having obtained the weapon from Jagtar Singh alias Kala, a known arms smuggler.In Rawatsar in Hanumangarh district, the AGTF arrested Abhishek Jat, 21, of Chaiya Rawatsar, with two illegal pistols and four magazines. Jat told police he purchased the weapons from Sonu Bhambhu, a prominent operative in the Bishnoi gang’s arms supply network.AGTF officers had earlier tracked down Bhambhu to Uttarakhand, detained him, and brought him to Jaipur for interrogation. Bhambhu confessed to supplying 131 illegal weapons to multiple districts across Rajasthan. His statements enabled police to map the gang’s distribution network and monitor its movements closely.The arrests this week build on major action taken just a week earlier when AGTF detained 11 members of the same network in Hanumangarh and seized six illegal firearms. Officers say the fresh seizures and arrests mark a significant step in dismantling a chain that has been funnelling weapons to criminals across the state.
