Jaipur: A female cheetah named Jawala from Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park, which crossed the border and reached Rajasthan, was rescued Tuesday by Madhya Pradesh forest department with assistance from Ranthambore Tiger Reserve staff. Jawala travelled nearly 130 km to Karira village in Karauli district. A forest official said, “Teams deployed monitored her movement closely before carrying out a safe capture operation to prevent any conflict with residents.”Around 6am Tuesday, villagers discovered the cheetah inside a goat enclosure and alerted the tiger reserve team. However, her aggressive behaviour made it impossible for the local forest department to carry out the rescue. The matter was then reported to Kuno National Park authorities. A team from Kuno reached Baler village at around 10 am, tranquilised Jawala within 15 minutes, and safely transported her back to the park.According to the forest department, Jawala has a radio collar fitted around her neck. On Sunday, she was spotted in the Manpur area of Sheopur district with a cub. By Monday, she separated from her cub and reached Baler village via the Chambal riverbank. When the villagers saw the cheetah inside the goat enclosure, they were shocked. Word quickly spread, drawing a crowd.
