Jaipur: A day after the Special Operations Group (SOG) arrested four govt school lecturers for allegedly clearing the lecturer recruitment exam using a leaked paper, sources said that while two accused—Vaidehi Meena and Roshan Bangadwa—lacked even the basic understanding of economics, the subject they were appointed to teach, the other two—Padma and Om Prakash—had solid academic credentials but chose the dishonest route out of desperation and self-doubt.The arrested lecturers include Roshan Bangadwa, currently posted at a govt senior secondary school in Nagaur; Vaidehi Meena, posted in Chittorgarh; Om Prakash, also serving in Nagaur; and Padma, working in a govt school in Barmer district.Padma, officials said, is an alumna of a reputed university in Vadodara, while Om Prakash was teaching Economics at a coaching institute for the past seven years. “Despite their academic strength, both Padma and Om Prakash told interrogators they grew uncertain about clearing the exam through hard work alone,” an official told TOI.“Prakash confessed that he was nearing the age limit for govt jobs and feared that another failed attempt might close his window of opportunity. He chose to pay to access the paper instead,” the official added. In contrast, Vaidehi and Roshan are believed to have no grasp of the subject at all. “Vaidehi could not comprehend even basic economic principles like GDP etc. She knew she wouldn’t pass on merit and thus paid for the leaked question paper, just like Roshan,” a source said.SOG suspects that many more such appointments could have been secured through the same network and is widening the probe.
