Chittorgarh police arrest three with nine tons of illegal Khair wood

Bhilwara: Chittorgarh Sadar Police and the district special team conducted a joint operation in Bhilwara, intercepting an Eicher truck carrying over nine tons of illegally harvested wet khair wood. The truck and the wood were seized, and three suspects were arrested. Chittorgarh SP Sudhir Joshi said all police officers in the district were instructed to crack down on and prevent illegal activities. Under the supervision of Chittorgarh ASP Sarita Singh and deputy Vinay Choudhary, a special team was formed. The team set up a checkpoint on the Udaipur-Chittorgarh highway. When they signalled an Eicher truck coming from Udaipur to stop, the driver attempted to flee, breaking through the checkpoint. The police stopped the truck, removed the tarpaulin, and found it loaded with illegally harvested wet khair wood. The total weight of the seized wood was 9,435 kg. The police confiscated the illegal khair wood and the Eicher truck used for transportation. They arrested the suspects involved in the smuggling identified as 39-year-old Munfaid from Dhiriyawas in Bhiwadi district, 32-year-old Mohammad Shahzad from Jhiwana in Bhiwadi, and 26-year-old Alam Khan from Rigadh in Nuh district, Haryana.
