Jaipur: City police have arrested four gang members allegedly abducting a man to extort money from him Thursday.DCP (East) Tejaswani Gautam said the accused have been identified as Shubham Rathore (23), Harshit Sharma alias Appu (23), Kuljeet alias Raja Singh (23), and Tanmay Gupta (26). All four have been found as habitual offenders with a history of criminal cases.According to Jawahar Circle police, victim Anil Bhatt was abducted by the gang from Ebiza Café in Malviya Nagar around noon. Two of the accused, Tanmay and Harshit, arrived at the café, grabbed Bhatt by hand, and escorted him downstairs. Kuljeet alias Raja then joined them. Harshit and Kuljeet allegedly assaulted Bhatt and forced him into a black Hyundai Venue.Bhatt was first taken near Saras Parlor, where the gang transferred him into another vehicle already occupied by Kuljeet and three other individuals. During abduction, the accused snatched Bhatt’s gold chain, weighing around 1.25 tolas. Kuljeet then allegedly called Bhatt’s brother-in-law and demanded ransom for his safe release.Police officials said that acting on a tip-off they swiftly formed search teams and set up checkpoints. After tracking potential hideouts and routes, the police raided suspects’ locations and apprehended all four within 24 hours of FIR being filed.DCP Gutam said, “This was a well-planned extortion attempt, but timely police intervention ensured the victim’s safety and arrest of all involved.” Further investigation is underway to verify gang’s involvement in other criminal cases across city.
