Notice to halt Golf Club’s extraordinary general meet

Jaipur: The Central Park Bachao Sangarh Samiti Tuesday served a legal notice to top govt officials challenging the legitimacy of an Extraordinary General Body Meeting scheduled by the Rambagh Golf Club for July 12.The notice, issued to the chief secretary, Urban Development and Housing (UDH) secretary and Jaipur Development Authority commissioner, demands cancellation of the meeting, citing previous high court orders that restrict the club to sporting activities only.Yogesh Yadav, president of the Samiti, through his counsel Vimal Choudhary, argued that the proposed meeting, which aims to approve renovation budget, violates existing court directives. “The club cannot conduct such meetings without state govt approval, especially since the UDH secretary serves as the club’s president and the JDC as vice-president,” Choudhary said.He emphasised that any renovations cannot be undertaken without state approval, especially since the golf club has pending appeals against earlier court rulings at the Supreme Court.According to Choudhary, the high court has consistently directed the golf club and the polo club to refrain from non-sporting activities, including the operation of a bar, which was ordered to be suspended. When contacted, the honorary secretary of the club, Samridh Sharma, stated, “We are yet to receive any such notice, thus I can’t comment on that.”
