Jaipur: Rajasthan High Court Wednesday granted bail to former Behror MLA Baljeet Yadav who was arrested by Enforcement Directorate (ED) nine months ago in a money laundering case involving the alleged misappropriation of Rs 3.72 crore from the MLA Local Area Development (MLA-LAD) fund. The bench of Justice Ravi Chirania directed his release on bail. This was Yadav’s second bail application. HC had earlier rejected his first bail plea, following which he approached Supreme Court with a special leave petition (SLP). SC also dismissed his plea but directed ED to expedite the trial.Advocate Chitranshu Saxena, appearing for Yadav, argued that his client had already spent nine months in jail and that no co-accused had been arrested by ED.“No investigation is pending and chargesheet has also been filed. Thus, bail should be granted,” Saxena argued.“While rejecting the appeal, SC had asked the ED to expedite the trial,” Saxena added.HC had reserved its order on the second bail application on Oct 29. The plea was moved after the trial court framed charges against Yadav. The defence also submitted that ED had filed a supplementary charge sheet and that no further investigation was required from the accused.Opposing the bail, the Centre argued that the trial was still underway and that releasing Yadav could affect the proceedings. It maintained that the case involved serious allegations of money laundering.ED arrested Yadav on Feb 3, 2026. He was subsequently produced before a special court in Jaipur on Feb 7 after completion of his remand and was sent to judicial custody.
