JDA says 18 of 32 coaching centres relocated, operators dispute claim
Coaching Hub in Pratap Nagar

Jaipur: Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has begun assessing the relocation status of coaching centres, with officials claiming that more than half of the identified institutes have shifted from the area.DIG (Enforcement) Anand Sharma said the assessment started on Oct 21 and that 18 of the 32 coaching bodies had already relocated. He said the remaining operators had also cooperated with the authority and sought time till after Diwali.Sharma said the exercise was being carried out with the cooperation of coaching operators and that there had been no need for coercive action.Coaching hub operators, however, disputed the JDA’s relocation figures. They claimed only two centres had shifted to the designated Pratap Nagar hub, while most others had moved to 80 Feet Road in Mahesh Nagar.Operators said the high auction prices of properties at the Pratap Nagar hub had made relocation financially unviable.“This is not a permanent solution. JDA has moved us out of one place, but we have nowhere else to go. Pratap Nagar is not the solution for us; it is the problem,” a coaching operator said.Another operator alleged that JDA was misleading the Supreme Court by presenting relocation figures after sealing the premises of smaller coaching centres with fewer than 100 students, while larger institutes with more than 1,000 students continued to operate from the area.Operators said they were compelled to relocate under the apex court’s directions, but argued that a coordinated solution involving JDA and the Rajasthan Housing Board (RHB) could prevent institutes from shifting to Mahesh Nagar, where similar disputes may emerge over time.A source also claimed that RHB had rented out a property in the Pratap Nagar coaching hub to the National Forensic Sciences University, while repeatedly denying similar requests from coaching operators seeking rented premises at the hub.
