Jaipur: Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot Tuesday said the Gen Z-led mass protest in Delhi against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and over allegations concerning Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar reflected growing public anger. He added this could have a bearing on the upcoming Panchayati Raj elections in Rajasthan.Speaking to reporters at Bikaner airport, Gehlot sought to link the Delhi protest with Rajasthan, alleging that BJP had benefited from “vote theft”, cross-voting and delimitation of constituencies in a manner that favoured its candidates.

Gehlot also reiterated that Rajasthan Congress was working together ahead of rural polls and said there was no question of factionalism in the party. He said PCC chief Govind Singh Dotasra and Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully made sure to include all sections of the organisation.Asked about his earlier remark “we are all one” in Rajasthan Congress, Gehlot said unity was essential ahead of rural polls. “If we are not united at such a time, how can we fight to save democracy in the country?” he said.Gehlot also claimed that Congress would win the panchayat elections with a “heavy majority”, saying committees had been formed at district, block and state levels and that the process had changed the political atmosphere across Rajasthan.
