Jaipur: The Rajasthan unit of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) staged a protest at Shaheed Smarak here Friday against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation. Party workers raised concerns over reports of over 13 crore names being excluded from draft electoral rolls and demanded an independent probe into the alleged deletions.AAP Rajasthan co-in-charge Neetu Maan questioned why the SIR exercise appeared to benefit only BJP if the process was entirely impartial. She said Election Commission should publicly clarify concerns raised over electoral processes and voter lists in various states, including Delhi, Bihar and West Bengal.During the protest, workers had a scuffle with police before senior party functionaries submitted a memorandum addressed to Governor, seeking transparency in the SIR process and protection of eligible voters’ rights.AAP state general secretary Satyawan Rana, state secretary Vishvendra Singh, Jaipur district president Jugal Kishore Sharma and district in-charge Archit Gupta were among the party functionaries and workers who participated in the demonstration.
