Jaipur: The All India Sub-Junior (Under-15 and Under-17) Ranking Badminton tournament will be held at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium here from October 1 to 9.The qualifying rounds will get underway on Thursday morning at 8am. The main draw matches will commence on October 6 after five days of qualifiers.Chief referee of the tournament, Habib Rahman of Kerala, conducted the draw for the qualifying matches here on Wednesday. In the U-15 boys’ singles, Vidit Reddy of Telangana was seeded first, while Naksh Phogat of Haryana placed second.In the U-15 girls’ singles, Johanna of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh’s Kavya Sriram were seeded first and second, respectively.

Shyam Bindiganavel of Karnataka was seeded first in the U-17 boys singles, and Lakshman RK of Tamil Nadu second.In the U-17 girls’ singles, Rikshita Singha of Tamil Nadu was seeded first, and Navya Singh of Haryana second.Over 500 matches will be played on the first day of the tournament. In the qualifying rounds, 250 boys and girls from Rajasthan will be vying for the main draw. The competition will feature singles, doubles, and mixed doubles matches in both categories. Around two thousand entries were received for the competition.

The nine-day long tournament will be inaugurated on Thursday evening by Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, president of the Rajasthan Badminton Association and Union minister of culture and tourism. The event will be presided over by Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, sports minister of Rajasthan.
