Jaipur: The contest for Jaipur mayor is now a direct fight between BJP’s Sunil Kothari and Congress’s Sunita Gupta Mawar after two independent candidates withdrew their nominations Tuesday, the last day for withdrawal.

Kothari is BJP’s mayoral candidate, while Congress has fielded Sunita Gupta Mawar. Independent candidates Dashrath Atal and Sunita Methi also filed nominations for the post, but withdrew from the race Tuesday.With their withdrawal, Kothari and Mawar are now the only two candidates in the fray for the mayor’s post. The election will be held on Sept 25, with voting scheduled from 10 am to 2 pm.Results are expected soon after polling ends.
