Jaipur: Rajasthan State Election Commission (SEC) has permitted all departments to go ahead with the appointment and posting of fourth-grade employees, despite Model Code of Conduct (MCC) being in force for the ongoing urban local body (ULB) elections. In an order issued Friday, chief electoral officer and SEC secretary Rajesh Verma said MCC for the 2026 urban local body elections had been in effect since Aug 19. The commission had received several cases seeking permission for appointment and posting of fourth-grade employees as the recruitment process was already underway across various state departments.“Permission is granted for the appointment/posting of fourth-grade employees under process in all departments,” the order said. The relaxation comes as departments are processing appointments of fourth-grade employees and have sought clarity from the commission on whether the ongoing MCC would prevent them from completing the recruitment and posting process.“As proceedings for the appointment/posting of fourth-grade employees are under process in all departments of the state, cases have been received seeking relaxation/permission regarding their appointment/posting,” it added.SEC’s permission allows departments to proceed with such appointments and postings that are already under process, while MCC continues to remain in force for the urban local body elections.
