Raj madrassa instructors’ body demands better facilities amid ongoing school renovations

Jaipur: Rajasthan Madrassa Shiksha Anudeshak Sangh, an association of madrassa instructors, has demanded better facilities for dilapidated madrassas as the state govt continues to repair rundown govt schools.Along with funds for proper buildings, they have demanded extending the benefits of the ‘Lado Yojana’ (scheme) to madrassa students and providing free uniforms to students, which have not been supplied for the last three academic sessions.Association president Zulfiqar Ali Khan said the state has 3,500 registered madrasas with 5,500 instructors and almost 2 lakh students.“But we are not getting proper funds for development. Most of the instructors have over 15 years of experience, but they are not regularised, neither does the meetings with authorities take place. Students in these institutions deserve good facilities too,” Khan said. The association said that last year, the state’s madrassa board had sought information regarding dilapidated buildings or madrassas operating without their own buildings, but “no funds have been received so far.”The association has also demanded extending the benefits of the Ayushman Yojana to madrassa instructors, implementing an insurance scheme for instructors and facilitating land allocation for landless madrasas to ensure a safe and appropriate educational environment for the students.“In the past 15 years, several committees have been formed under both BJP and Congress govt to discuss the demands of madrassa instructors, especially regarding their regularisation, but no action has been taken till now. If any mishap takes place, then enquiries are ordered, but infrastructure must be strengthened in advance,” the president added.
