Bhilwara: The city’s political atmosphere is charged following the completion of voting in the 70 wards of the Bhilwara Municipal Corporation Wednesday. BJP is making strategic moves to form a governing board in the corporation, gathering all 70 of its councillor candidates at a secret location post-election.Unlike BJP, which contested all wards, Congress was only able to field candidates in 53 only due to delays in securing symbols for 17 of its candidates. The voter turnout remained at 63.84% on the polling day. More than 360 candidates, representing major political parties and independent contenders, competed for seats throughout the 70 wards. After the voting concluded, BJP candidates were summoned to the party office, where they were welcomed by MP Damodar Agrawal, former MLA Vitthal Shankar Avasthi, and various party workers. After verifying their identities, candidates were provided with meals and then transported in two private buses to an undisclosed location shortly after midnight. Notably, some women candidates were accompanied by family members, including children and husbands.
