Jaipur: Balloons, vintage cars, electric vehicles, bicycles and small-group meetings marked the final day of campaigning for Jaipur’s municipal elections Wednesday, as candidates stepped up last-mile outreach ahead of polling on Sept 11.Candidates and party workers took out vehicle rallies, held meetings and focused on voters and areas they had been unable to cover during the 10-day campaign.In Barkat Nagar, Ward 78 candidate Abhishek Saini took out a rally featuring electric vehicles and bicycles to promote his “go green” message.For Suman Bhati, contesting from Ward 72, the final day was about reaching out to voters in areas missed during the campaign. “We are focusing on areas that were left out during the past 10 days and holding public meetings in small groups,” she said.In Murlipura, gates of parks in Ward 26 were decorated with balloons carrying candidate Manju Sharma’s election symbol in a bid to improve voter recall.Vishal Meena, contesting from Ward 44, made a proposed civic complaint app a key part of his campaign. He promised a single platform where residents could lodge complaints related to water, electricity, sewage and other civic issues. He said the app would ensure timely redressal and address a common grievance among residents that councillors often remained inaccessible.In Kishanpole’s Ward 114, Mohammad Jakariya relied on his track record in office. “I worked for six years. My tenure ended in Nov 2025, but I did not let residents feel that it had ended. I got development works done with the MLA’s approval and kept my office open 365 days a year,” he said.
