Alwar: An 80-year-old woman died and eight people were injured after a house wall collapsed when monkeys jumped on it around 3pm Monday in Sikligar Mohalla under Sewar police station limits in Bharatpur district.The woman, identified as Premvati, was buried under the debris.A woman died and seven people were injured after a rain-dampened wall collapsed in Sewar, Bharatpur, when monkeys jumped on it, district collector Kamar Chaudhary said.The victims were taken first to Sewar hospital and referred to RBM Hospital, where doctors declared one woman dead. The seven others remain under treatment.Chief minister Bhajanlal Sharma visited RBM Hospital, met the injured and directed administrative officials to ensure proper treatment and compensation.The victims were identified as Guruvachan Singh (45), Meera (55), Nandani (18), Guddu (25), Sunita (45), Veermati (50), Ramthakeli (65) and Ankush (17).Eyewitness Sanjay Dangi said women from Sikligar Mohalla were heading to the market to buy goods when the wall suddenly collapsed, trapping them. Local people removed wall slabs and took them to Sewar hospital. District officials, citing passersby, also said a monkey’s jump had triggered the collapse.
