The guide, identified as Manish Soni, suffered a stab injury to his abdomen and was rushed to SMS Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment in serious condition. Amer SHO Rajendra Godara said the incident took place around 10 am near Maotha.According to the police, Soni was stopping vehicles from proceeding towards Amer Fort, leading to an argument with jeep driver Azam over allowing the vehicle to go towards the fort. “The argument escalated and Azam, along with his associate Nazish, allegedly attacked Soni with a knife. The knife struck Soni in the abdomen, leaving him seriously injured. People present in the area rushed to his aid and informed the police,” he said.The incident triggered tension in the area, with a large number of local people reaching Amer police station around 10.30 am. They staged a protest for nearly one-and-a-half hours, demanding strict action against the accused. Police officials intervened and assured the protesters that appropriate action would be taken. Godara said police detained Azam and Nazish and were questioning them to establish the sequence of events and the exact reason behind the dispute.Police are also trying to recover the knife allegedly used in the attack and ascertain the individual roles of both accused. Police said both the accused already have two criminal cases registered against them at Amer police station. The police are questioning witnesses and gathering other evidence to determine whether the attack was a spontaneous escalation of the argument or whether there was any prior dispute between the guide and the accused.
