Udaipur: A constable posted at Govardhan Vilas police station in Udaipur allegedly fled after accepting a Rs 3,000 bribe from a complainant during an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) trap Thursday, officials said.The ACB’s special unit carried out the operation. The accused, identified as Rajendra Kumar Meena, escaped on a motorcycle after sensing the presence of the ACB team, allegedly taking advantage of heavy traffic on the national highway. A search has been launched to trace him.ACB additional director general Smita Shrivastava said the complainant approached the bureau’s helpline, alleging that a case of assault had been registered against him at Govardhan Vilas police station. The constable allegedly demanded Rs 3,000 to refrain from taking action in the case and repeatedly threatened to have the complainant jailed if the money was not paid.Following the complaint, the ACB conducted verification under the supervision of deputy inspector general Rameshwar Singh. During the trap, officials confirmed that the constable accepted the bribe. However, before the team could apprehend him, he fled from the spot.The ACB has launched a search operation to arrest the accused constable and is investigating the case further.
