Jaipur: Two days after the body of a 24-year-old man with his throat slit was found near a pond on the outskirts of Dausa, police Thursday arrested his uncle, alleging that he murdered the victim after suspecting him of having an illicit relationship with his wife.The accused, Ashok Raigar, 40, was arrested following an investigation by a joint team of Sadar police station, Kotwali police station and the district cyber cell.Police said the body of Saurabh Raigar, 24, was found near a pond close to a hostel at Mitrpura under the Sadar police station limits.Senior officers, including the additional SP, circle officer and SHO, rushed to the spot and found a deep cut on the victim’s throat. A special team collected forensic evidence before the body was shifted to the district mortuary.Investigators identified the deceased within an hour of receiving information about the body and analysed footage from more than 100 CCTV cameras to reconstruct his movements from Dausa city to the crime scene. Police also examined technical evidence and gathered intelligence on the victim’s habits, family background and personal relationships.During the investigation, police found that Saurabh was facing marital discord and had allegedly developed a close relationship with his aunt. Investigators said this led Ashok to suspect an affair and plan the murder.According to police, Ashok exploited Saurabh’s habit of consuming alcohol by luring him to the secluded spot on the pretext of drinking together. After Saurabh became heavily intoxicated, the accused allegedly dragged him near the pond and repeatedly slashed his throat with a broken liquor bottle before abandoning him. Police believe the victim died at the spot after failing to receive timely medical attention.Investigators said the isolated location near a national highway and the lack of eyewitnesses made the case particularly challenging. The breakthrough came after investigators pieced together CCTV footage, technical surveillance and local intelligence, leading to Ashok’s arrest.
