Jaipur: Jewellers Association Jaipur (JAS) and Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group (DJG) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening bilateral trade, promoting joint business initiatives and expanding global market access for jewellers from both sides. The MoU, signed by JAS president Raju Mangodiwala and DJG chairperson Tawhid Abdullah during the JAS-2026 exhibition in Jaipur, is the first such bilateral agreement between jewellery trade bodies of India and the UAE.“The agreement opens a new chapter as it will give Jaipur’s jewellers easier access to Dubai’s vast international market, create new export opportunities and facilitate direct business links with global buyers, while Dubai’s traders will gain access to Jaipur’s world-renowned coloured gemstones, traditional craftsmanship and competitively priced jewellery,” said Mangodiwala.The signing coincided with the first-ever visit of a high-level delegation from Dubai and Sharjah, comprising leading jewellery traders with a combined business worth around Rs 1 lakh crore, to participate in the JAS exhibition in Jaipur.JAS convener Ashok Maheshwari said the partnership would extend beyond trade to include design innovation, technology adoption, skill development, joint exhibitions, buyer-seller meets, training programmes and business delegations, helping strengthen the jewellery industries of both countries.Ashish Garg, board director of Dubai Jewellery Group worked with the leadership of both organisations to shape the strategic agenda of the visit for strengthening long-term collaboration between Jaipur and Dubai.
