Jodhpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Rajasthan Saturday to inaugurate the country’s first greenfield integrated refinery-cum-petrochemical complex at Pachpadra, lay the foundation stone for the Rs 13,000-crore Phase-II of Jaipur Metro and launch projects cumulatively worth over Rs 1 lakh crore and spanning aviation, railways, roads, renewable energy and power transmission sectors. He will begin the day’s programmes in Jodhpur with the inauguration of the city’s new airport terminal, built at a cost of Rs 480 crore and designed to handle two million passengers a year. He will also launch the revamped UDAN scheme to boost regional air connectivity through 100 new airports and 200 helipads. The PM will then travel to Balotra district to inaugurate the Pachpadra refinery, which is among India’s most advanced. It is expected to boost energy security, petrochemical production, industrialisation and jobs in western Rajasthan. The refinery was initially slated for inauguration on April 21 by PM Modi, but was postponed after a fire broke out in the facility’s Crude Distillation Unit a day before.Unlike previous visits, no large public rally has been planned for the event this time due to security considerations. Instead, a limited gathering of around 5,000 invitees will attend the inauguration at the refinery site. To enable wider public participation, the programme will be telecast live on LED screens in district headquarters across the state.Friday’s inclement weather may have also been a reason for the limited public participation, as heavy rains and strong winds ripped off hoardings, banners and cutouts put up for PM Modi’s visit.Even Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma had to ditch a helicopter ride and travel by road from Jodhpur to review final preparations at Pachparda. In a post on X, Modi said, “This project will boost India’s energy and petrochemicals sector. It will also provide employment opportunities to several people”.During the day, Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the Jaipur Metro Phase-II project. The 41-km north-south corridor with 36 stations will connect Prahladpura to Todi Mod via Sitapura, VKI, Jaipur Airport, Tonk Road, SMS Hospital and Vidhyadhar Nagar. He will also dedicate the Churu-Sadulpur and Churu-Ratangarh rail doubling projects, built at a cost of around Rs 900 crore, and inaugurate the Rs 740-crore Karwar-Dangiyawas section of the Jodhpur Ring Road.To strengthen Rajasthan’s renewable energy network, Modi will dedicate SJVN’s 1,000 MW Bikaner Solar Project and NHPC’s 300 MW Karnisar Solar Project. He will also inaugurate power transmission projects worth over Rs 1,900 crore and lay the foundation stone for a 530-km transmission network to evacuate renewable power to the national grid.During the visit, the prime minister will also distribute appointment letters to nearly 54,000 candidates selected for government jobs in Rajasthan across education, energy, home, agriculture, information technology, panchayati raj, transport and higher education departments.GFXPM’s Schedule Of EventsDedication of the Rs 79,450 crore Pachpadra refinery-cum-petrochemical complex in BalotraFoundation stone laying for the Rs 13,000 crore Jaipur Metro Phase-II projectInauguration of the Rs 480 crore Jodhpur Airport terminalLaunch of the revamped UDAN regional connectivity schemeDedication of the Rs 900 crore Churu-Sadulpur and Churu-Ratangarh rail doubling projectsInauguration of the Rs 740 crore Karwar-Dangiyawas section of Jodhpur Ring RoadDedication of the 1,000 MW Bikaner Solar Project and the 300 MW Karnisar Solar ProjectInauguration of power transmission projects worth over Rs 1,900 croreFoundation stone laying for a 530-km power transmission networkDistribution of appointment letters to nearly 54,000 govt recruits in Rajasthan
