Statewide road safety campaign begins with over 18,000 enforcement actions

Jaipur: On the first day of its statewide traffic enforcement campaign, Rajasthan Police took 18,477 enforcement actions against traffic violators across the state.According to a police dept release, action was taken against 7,104 two-wheeler riders for riding without helmets, 5,133 drivers for overspeeding, 3,082 motorists for illegal parking on national and state highways and other roads, and 3,158 drivers for violating lane discipline on national highways and expressways.“Only ISI-marked helmets are mandatory for both riders and pillion riders. The goal of this campaign is to encourage greater compliance with traffic rules and reduce road accidents,” said additional director general of police (traffic) B.L. Meena.The Rajasthan Police launched the special enforcement drive from July 2 to July 16 to reduce road accidents, promote a safe and disciplined traffic system, and raise public awareness about road safety.The campaign is being conducted across the state under the directions of director general of police Rajiv Kumar Sharma and ADGP (training and traffic) Anil Paliwal, with district superintendents of police and deputy commissioners of police overseeing enforcement in their respective jurisdictions.
