Jaipur: The Ice Skating Foundation of Rajasthan, under the aegis of the Ice Skating Association of India, proudly participated with 46 skaters in the 21st National Ice Skating Championship 2026 and brought laurels to the state through their commendable performances.Rajasthan’s athletes showcased remarkable skill and determination, securing several notable achievements during the championship.Twisha Sharda of Jaipur, a talented figure skater, delivered an outstanding performance in the Figure Skating category and won the silver medal, earning recognition for Rajasthan at the national level.In addition, four promising skaters from the Rajasthan team — Aaritra Kumar, Jayshree Khandelwal, Vidhi Bhatt, and Saesha — have been selected for the selection trials of the prestigious Asian Open Short Track Speed Skating Trophy.This achievement reflects the athletes’ hard work, discipline, and the quality of training they have received.During the national championship, Sanjeev Kumar served as the Team Manager for the Rajasthan contingent, while Rachna Pradhan and Anil Gaur guided the players as coaches. Their experience, dedication, and technical expertise played a vital role in helping the skaters perform at a higher level.On this occasion, Amitabh Sharma, President of the Ice Skating Association of India, stated that the association is continuously working towards the growth of ice skating across the country, strengthening training systems, and providing athletes with opportunities at the national and international levels. He praised the excellent performance of the Rajasthan team and extended his best wishes to all the players, expressing confidence that these young athletes will represent India with pride in the years to come.Meanwhile, Jagrag Singh Sahney, hon’ble secretary of the Ice Skating Association of India, congratulated Twisha Sharda of Jaipur on winning the silver medal and also extended his heartfelt wishes to Aaritra Kumar, Jayshree Khandelwal, Vidhi Bhatt, and Saesha for being selected for the Asian Open Short Track Speed Skating Trophy Selection Trials. He conveyed his blessings and good wishes to the entire Rajasthan team, stating that the players’ hard work, the coaches’ dedication, and the support of parents will surely help them achieve greater success at the international level.The Ice Skating Foundation of Rajasthan attributed this success to the relentless efforts of the players, the support of parents, the team management, the coaching staff, and the visionary leadership and continuous guidance of Amitabh Sharma, President of the Ice Skating Association of India, and Jagrag Singh Sahney, secretary of the association. The foundation expressed confidence that under their leadership, Indian ice skating will reach new heights and that Rajasthan’s skaters will continue to bring pride to the state and the nation in future national and international competitions.
