Alwar: Police arrested the main accused within 24 hours in connection with the alleged rape of a five-year-old girl in Alwar district’s Tehla police station area. The accused, Rahul Meena (27), a resident of Baswa in Dausa district, was arrested Friday with his face covered. Police also arrested his alleged accomplice, Rinku Meena (23) for allegedly sheltering him at a hideout in Jaipur.Police said over 100 personnel were deployed to trace the accused, and a reward of Rs 25,000 was announced for information leading to his arrest. Investigators examined footage from hundreds of CCTV cameras during the search.During interrogation, police said Rahul Meena disclosed that he worked as a cab driver for a private company. Investigators said he was planning to flee from Jaipur to Udaipur when he was detained Thursday night. He was brought to Alwar and formally arrested Friday.Police said four criminal cases are registered against the two accused. Rahul Meena has three previous cases against him, including one under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, one under the NDPS Act and two theft cases, police said.Alwar superintendent of police Sudhir Chaudhary said the girl’s father lodged a complaint at Tehla police station on June 24, alleging kidnapping and rape. Police recorded the victim’s statement within 12 hours of registration of the case, conducted her medical examination, and handed over the investigation to the Rajgarh circle officer. Teams from the FSL, MOB and Dog Squad collected evidence from the spot.To trace the accused, police constituted a district special team under Rajgarh and Thanagazi deputy superintendents of police. CCTV footage allegedly showed the accused taking the child on a motorcycle near an agricultural farm. Police said he was later spotted near Kiran Library before moving towards Bandikui. Based on the footage, investigators identified him and tracked him to Jaipur.
