Jaipur: The admission process for various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at the University of Rajasthan is getting easier for first-time applicants with assistance from both official university-led mechanisms and through student-led initiatives.The applications for academic session 2026-27 at RU began Thursday, and students can apply till June 14.At colleges, help desks are being set up to guide the applicants through the admission process, aiding them in filling the online forms, providing them with information regarding fee payment, courses offered and seat availability. Helpline numbers and official notices are available on the official university website.Complementing the official efforts, the students currently enrolled at the university have come forward with new initiatives to ease the often-confusing admission process for the new students.With the admission process now completely online, student representatives like Shubham Rewar have developed mobile applications that are free of cost, where newcomers and existing students can get all admission-related details. The app would help the students resolve queries like hostel availability, merit lists released for their desired courses, along with informing them about the upcoming deadlines, in relation to the admission to the constituent colleges.“During my admission process, the merit list for my course was not accessible on the college website due to some glitch, so I was guided to this student-made application. I was easily able to access the list and was also guided further on how to proceed with the admission process,” said Ankush Bishnoi, who is currently a final-year BSc student at Maharaja College. Bishnoi is now working to update the application with the latest details for the upcoming academic session.Another student, Krishna Bhambhu, a second-year student at Commerce College, said, “I heard about this application through social media, and it was very easy to use. I had no one to guide me and no idea of how to proceed further with my application, so this initiative proved to be very helpful for me.”These peer-led initiatives help the students settle in university life by informing them of the schedule of their classes, syllabus of the courses, etc., making the information provided by the official channels more accessible and easier to understand, creating a comprehensive support system for the students at Rajasthan University.
