Alwar: A couple and their eight-year-old daughter were killed and 30 passengers injured after a bus collided with a parked chemical tanker truck on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Alwar district early Tuesday morning. The accident occurred around 6am near Pinan, close to the Channel No 100 interchange bridge in the Rajgarh police station area.Police identified the dead as bus driver Monu Yadav, 33, a resident of Firozabad in Uttar Pradesh, his wife Reena Yadav, 32, and their daughter Doli Yadav, 8. Their two-year-old daughter Riddhi Yadav survived without injury. The toddler, who was left devastated and crying for her mother, was taken under the care of Rajgarh Station House Officer (SHO) Rajesh Meena until relatives arrived. Riddhi was later taken to Agra by her maternal uncle. The bus driver had taken his family members on vacation and had seated them in his cabin at the front, police said. According to family members, Monu worked as a bus driver and had visited Mahakal in Ujjain with his family just the previous day, photos of which had also been posted on social media. According to police, the bus had departed from Ujjain at 9pm Monday and was headed to Delhi. Investigators said the driver allegedly dozed off in the early morning, causing the speeding bus to ram into the stationary tanker carrying chemicals. Passengers alleged the crash was caused by the driver’s negligence after the vehicle hit the truck parked on the highway. Officials said 30 passengers were injured in the collision. Of them, 12 were referred to hospitals in Alwar and two were sent to Jaipur, while the others were admitted to hospitals in Rajgarh and Raini. Post-mortems were conducted and the bodies were handed over to the family. Police said the truck driver fled the scene and efforts were underway to trace him.
