Jaipur: Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) commissioner Om Kasera conducted a late-night inspection of the Walled City Friday, bringing to light multiple civic issues ranging from poor sanitation to unsafe hanging cables in key areas.During the inspection, garbage was found scattered on roads at Chaura Rasta, while waste piled up on the dividers at Badi Chaupar. In the Chandi ki Taksal area, debris from drain cleaning was left unattended, prompting instructions to clear it within 24 hours. Open garbage dumps near Hawa Mahal were also not being lifted on time, leading to unhygienic surroundings in a busy tourist zone.

Several locations in the Walled City were found to have hanging illegal cables, which not only pose safety risks to residents and pedestrians but also affect the heritage look of the area. Officials were directed to address the issue and remove such cables.At Jal Mahal, public toilets were found closed and in poor condition, raising concerns over basic civic facilities. Garbage was also seen scattered across footpaths at multiple spots, indicating gaps in routine cleaning.The inspection further revealed that sanitation work in several areas remained incomplete. Debris taken out from drains was not lifted in time, adding to the overall mess. The condition pointed towards lapses in monitoring and execution by contractors.Officials and contractors were instructed to improve cleanliness, ensure timely lifting of garbage and debris, and fix the identified issues. They were also warned of action and penalties in case of negligence, with directions to streamline the overall system and maintain basic civic standards in the city.
