Failed SI aspirants file caveat in SC

Jaipur: Two candidates who failed the 2021 Rajasthan Sub-Inspector recruitment exam, Kailash Chandra Sharma and Pramod Kumar, have filed a caveat in Supreme Court to ensure they are heard if the state govt or selected candidates challenge the Rajasthan high court verdict cancelling the recruitment process. The caveat follows the April 4 ruling by Raj HC’s division bench upholding the scrapping of the 2021 SI recruitment, affirming a single-bench decision that cancelled the entire selection over allegations of paper leaks, malpractice and widespread irregularities.A division bench of Acting Chief Justice S P Sharma and Justice Sangeeta Sharma dismissed appeals by the Rajasthan govt and some candidates, while upholding the Aug 28, 2025, judgment delivered by Justice Sameer Jain. The division bench observed that when the ‘sanctity, transparency and fairness’ of an examination are compromised, cancellation of the entire process is justified.Sharma and Kumar said they fear successful candidates or the state govt may now move the apex court against the high court ruling, and filed the caveat to protect their right to be heard. The recruitment began on Feb 3, 2021, when the Rajasthan Public Service Commission advertised 859 posts of Sub-Inspector and Platoon Commander under the Rajasthan Police Subordinate Service Rules, 1989.
