Udaipur: A chain collision unfolded on the Udaipur-Chittorgarh national highway Thursday afternoon, when an out-of-control tanker crashed into more than a dozen vehicles, resulting in injuries to six persons and a significant traffic jam.The accident occurred in front of a power house on the Debari highway, where witnesses reported that the tanker was speeding out of control, subsequently colliding with four to five cars, loading tempos, and a motorcycle. Pratap Nagar police transported the injured to MB Hospital in Udaipur. Among the six injured, one person is reported to be in critical condition. SHO Puran Singh Rajpurohit confirmed the severity of the crash, revealing that the preliminary investigation points to brake failure as a potential cause. “After the accident, the tanker driver fled the scene, and a manhunt is currently underway,” Rajpurohit added. Eyewitness accounts from accident victims recounted a terrifying near-miss. Manmeet Kundra, who was driving towards a construction site in his electric vehicle, described how he noticed the uncontrolled tanker approaching via his rearview mirror. Despite his attempts to steer clear, the tanker collided with his vehicle, resulting in complete destruction of his car. Kundra, along with two others in the vehicle, were fortunate to escape without life-threatening injuries. Earlier in the day, a chemical tanker had overturned near the same spot on the Debari highway. Police had moved that tanker aside, and the spilled chemical was washed off the road with the help of the fire tender.
