Jhunjhunu: Three children died Monday when a mud tunnel they had made while playing collapsed upon them, in Ganedi village under Nechhwa police station in Laxmangarh in Sikar, while a fourth child survived. According to information, the children had dug a tunnel beneath a 3-to-4-foot-high mound of soil in a field, through which they would pass from one side to the other. On Monday morning, Holash Meghwal, 10, Gautam Saini, 14, Deepesh Nayak, 12, went inside the tunnel while another friend, Krishna, was about to enter when the soil suddenly collapsed upon them and all three were buried under it. Krishna’s feet were also buried in the soil, but he tried to pull out his friends. When he could not do so, he started screaming, and villagers rushed to the spot. Nechhwa police were informed, after which police reached the spot and had the soil removed.
