Jaipur: Rajasthan United Football Club will be gunning for their maiden win of the season when the Jaipur-based team clash with Namdhari in the Indian Football League (IFL) match at the Vidhyadhar Nagar Stadium here on Friday.Lying at the bottom of the ten-team IFL with just a solitary point from two games so far, Rajasthan United FC is hoping that the first home match will bring them the much-needed win to put their campaign back on track. The RUFC side did well to hold Shillong Lajong 1-1 in their season opener but they faltered and crashed to a 1-3 defeat against Aizawl FC 1-3 in their second away game last weekend. Both Aizawl FC and Shillong are jointly topping the standings with 4 points each.Namdhari are at the sixth spot with two points after drawing both their outings so far.Rajasthan United FC have a good head-to-head record against Namdhari having won their previous two matches. Out of four, Namdhari have managed to beat RUFC only once. Both RUFC captain Malla Thakuri and head coach Vikrant Sharma are optimistic about their chances in Friday’s game.“We started well by picking up a point in the first game. In the second encounter, we were in contention for most part of the match but lost our way towards the closing stages of the game. We have a balanced side and we should do well in the remaining games. The five home matches are crucial for us and we want to make the most of it,” said Sharma. The RUFC chairman KK Tak and managing director Roshni Tak are confident that the team will bounce back with a win against Namdhari on Friday. They also appealed to the government authorities to install floodlights at the Vidhyadhar Nagar Stadium as soon as possible as summer heat will take a heavy toll on the players’ performance.“The All India Football Federation has asked all the ten teams to play their home matches under lights. The national governing football body has asked the organisers not to play the matches if the temperature is above 30 degree celsius. If we fail to install floodlights soon, we have to shift our remaining home games to either Chandigarh or Hyderabad,” said KK Tak.
